ER outperforms community hospital average
Results from the Level One Heart Attack program study conducted
by St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison shows Upland Hills
Health Emergency Services team consistently outperforms the
community hospital average.
Measurements are taken on ER patient transfer times, time
to EKG, and time it takes from patient arrival to the ER
to the time of “balloon” or angioplasty procedure.

Results showed Upland Hills Health ER averaging 34 minutes
for transfer—while the community hospital average
is 49 minutes. Time to EKG for Upland Hills was measured
at just 3 minutes.
Arrival time to ER until a “balloon” or
angioplasty procedure was tracked at a little over 100
minutes while the community hospital average is 113 minutes.
“Our excellent and improving performance is due
to teamwork,” states Lisa Faherty-Bilse RN and Director
of Emergency Services, “it’s the knowledge
of the top-notch cardiac care doctors and our experienced
ER nurses and staff working together that provides the
best possible care for anyone entering our ER.”
While most emergencies are successfully handled right
in the Upland Hills Health Emergency Room, the Emergency
Services Team works with all of the Madison Hospitals—St.
Mary’s, Meriter, and UW—transferring patients
that need specialized care.
