In honor of National Nurses’ Day, Upland Hills Health will host a Community Fun Run to honor the compassion, care and generosity nurses bring to their communities.
The event will be held Thursday, May 6 at the Upland Hills Health Campus and feature a 5k run/walk, a 10k run, and for children 12 and under, a kids run. In addition to these runs, free music, chair massages and blood pressures tests will be featured throughout the evening.
The Fun Run is meant to build on the 2010 Nurses’ Week theme, “Building a Healthy America.” The benefits of physical activity are numerous, and this event not only helps individuals come together as a community to achieve healthier living, it also hopes to recognize and commend all that nurses do daily for our communities.
“We are excited to offer this fun way to get families more active. Exercise is such an important part of a healthy lifestyle—and offering a fun way to incorporate that into Nurses’ Week is just great,” explained Becky Tank, R.N., Co-Manager of the Cardiac Rehab program at Upland Hills Health.
The kid’s run will begin at 6 p.m., and the 5k and 10k will begin at 6:30 p.m. Deadline for advanced registration is April 15. Registration fees will increase after April 15th, but runners and walkers are welcome to sign up through the day of the event.
Registration forms are also available in patient and visitor waiting lounges at Upland Hills Health, and at Kozelka & Wall and Corner Drug in Dodgeville.
All proceeds from the run/walk will benefit the Upland Hills Health Nursing Education Fund, to offer additional continuing education opportunities for healthcare workers in our communities, both within Upland Hills Health and outside.
