Two of Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab
Center’s team are to be honored at the National
Association of Activity Professionals awards to be
held this April in Columbus, Ohio.
Steve McCarthy,
Director of Strategic Operations at Upland Hills Health,
also served as interim Administrator of the Upland
Hills Nursing and Rehab Center until August 31, 2006.
His outstanding leadership and exemplary work at the
Nursing & Rehab
Center earned McCarthy the prestigious Administrator of the Year at the state
and national level.
“I cannot imagine life in a Nursing Home without Activity
Professionals. The mere existence of the human spirit on all levels demands social
interaction,” explains
McCarthy, “What sets a Nursing Home apart is the activity programming.
The activity professionals here do not consider this a job, it is their mission.”
Tina
Rikli-Touir has served as the Activities Assistant
for the Nursing & Rehab
Center for over 3 years. Known for going the extra mile and improving the quality
of life for all residents, Rikli-Touir was honored with the Professional Award
of Excellence at the state level and the Activity Assistant of the Year award
nationally. “My residents are very important to me.” stated Rikli-Touir. “Laughter
is a very important aspect of a person’s life and I like to provide that
for my residents.”
