for the 2007-08 school year.
Last year, Upland Hills health
Athletic trainer, Brad Vamstad provided additional after
school Athletic Training service as well as game coverage
to both schools on a volunteer basis.
“We supplemented
the program that was in place. Now we are fortunate enough
to have gotten contracts for both schools” stated Vamstad.
Brad, along with Therapist and Athletic Trainer
Chris Thomas plan to provide training coverage for all sports
at both schools in the upcoming year.
An Upland Hills Athletic
Trainer will be available during after schools ports and
practices and all home football games and will cover other
home sporting events on a rotating basis. Area physicians
have joined the Upland Hills Sports Medicine team for additional
coverage at home football games.
The Sports Medicine team
will address injury prevention during practices and games,
provide rehabilitation to injured athletes, and help determine
an athlete’s ability to return to competition following
injury.
“Our goal is to work with all student athletes
to minimize the potential for injury. And for the students
that are injured to facilitate their speedy recovery and
safe return to their sport,” Vamstad said.
