Hills Health staff logs over 124,950,000 steps in recent
wellness walking challenge
Upland Hills Health recently completed their MOVE TO IMPROVE
employee fitness challenge. Over 200 employees invested
in pedometers to participate in the 6 month wellness walking
challenge.
“It was a chance for us to motivate our staff to
live a healthier lifestyle,” stated Troy Marx, Director
of Human Resources at Upland Hills Health. “As a
healthcare organization we spend a lot of time educating
others on how to life a healthier life. This was a chance
for staff members to practice what they preach.”
The program rewarded staff members at different step milestones.
Gifts ranged from T-shirts and duffle bags to an MP3 player
for those reaching the million step milestone.
The organization hopes this initial program motivates
staff to keep moving and using their step log book. While
actual impact on the staff’s overall health can’t
be measured there are individual stories of personal success.
Most importantly staff had a fun opportunity to improve.
Planning for other potential wellness programs has already
begun.
