Ladies Happy Hearts Dinner offers heart
health insight and a chance to bond with girlfriends
Over 35 community members feasted on heart-healthy gourmet
cuisine prepared by the chef at the Upland Hills Health café. The
event was designed to be a unique forum to share information
about women’s heart health risks and healthy lifestyle
changes to minimize them.
“We are pleased at the overwhelming success,” stated Marketing Director
Patricia Lawson, “today’s woman is very busy and the challenge is
to deliver important health information in a way that fits into their overloaded
schedule.” Lawson stated the interest in the weekday dinner event was so
great that the hospital is considering a regular schedule of dinners to present
information on various health topics.
The evening started with sparkling non-alcoholic wine and
appetizers while attendees mingled and visited. Dr. Biere
and the Fly Rights band provided a musical backdrop for the
socializing time.
Dinner was interspersed with health information provided by Elizabeth Berkey,
Director of Nutrition Services, Dr Aaron Dunn of Mineral Point Family Practice,
and Rebecca Tank and Marianne Crowley, RNs and co-managers of Upland Hills
Health Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services.
“We really tried to create a 5-star dining experience,” explained
Berkey, “the staff went above and beyond to come up with creative little
touches to make the dinner event extra special.” According to attendees
the result was a delightful evening with an important health message they can
benefit from.
