Upland Hills Health birth possible significance in U.S. population reaching 300 million
 
Did a Dodgeville birth take the U.S. population to 300 million? Could be.  
Little Shea Luckey, son of Lisa and Tory Luckey, was born at Upland Hills Health in the wee hours of the morn on October 17, 2006. While his arrival at 4:45 am was slightly earlier than the projected 7:46 am time set by the Bureau, it is still possible Shea was number 300 million due to the margin of error in calculating such an estimate.

Pharmacists at Upland Hills Health will use the occasion of National Hospital & Health-System Pharmacy Week, October 22-28, 2006, to underscore the many new and vital roles they now play in patient care. The evolution has been especially dramatic in recent years as pharmacists have moved beyond compounding and dispensing medications to become vital members of multidisciplinary patient-care teams.

Athletic Trainer Joins Sports Medicine Team At Upland Hills Health

Upland Hills Health has a new staff member who spends most of his duty hours outside the hospital, working along the sidelines at Dodgeville and Mineral Point sports events.  
Brad Vamstad, athletic trainer, is the newest addition to the Sports Medicine program at the Dodgeville hospital. He functions as the first line of defense in a network of Upland Hills therapists and doctors who serve the needs of area athletes.

Upland Hills Health’s Wellness Event declared a success
 
With over 80 free health screenings and a packed audience for the keynote speaker, organizers declared the Women’s Wellness Event held Saturday September 30th a success.  
“Anytime you can provide real healthcare screenings and information for free it’s a worthwhile undertaking,” stated Patricia Lawson, Director of Marketing & Community Relations at Upland Hills Health. “Combine that with a mixture of light-hearted fun and socializing—and it was a great success!”

Two of Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center’s team were honored with awards at the annual WRAP (Wisconsin Representatives of Activity Professionals).  
Steve McCarthy, Director of Strategic Operations at Upland Hills Health, also served as interim Administrator of the Upland Hills Nursing and Rehab Center until August 31, 2006. His outstanding leadership and exemplary work at the Nursing & Rehab Center earned McCarthy the prestigious Administrator of the Year.

Dressed in space-age like moon suits—covered from head to toe—members of Upland Hills Health staff recently conducted decontamination drill and training exercises.  
From constructing the decontamination chamber to learning the specifics on handling contaminated garments and the proper/safe method of cleansing victims, the team goes through the painstaking process and procedures in detail.
